NDDLA Elects Officers at 2009 Annual Meeting and Seminar

The NDDLA held its Annual Meeting and Seminar on September 17, 2009, in Bismarck, North Dakota. During the meeting, the members elected the following officers for 2009-10: President: Scott M. Strand, Cahill Law Office, Moorhead, MN; Vice President: Zachary E. Pelham, Pearce & Durick, Bismarck, ND; Secretary: Tiffany L. Johnson, Pearce & Durick, Bismarck, ND; Treasurer: Robert B. Stock, Vogel Law Firm, Fargo, ND; and DRI State Rep: Larry L. Boschee, Pearce & Durick, Bismarck, ND. In addition to the foregoing officers, the Board of Governor includes the following members: Shawnda Ereth, Zuger Kirmis & Smith, Bismarck, ND; Chris Edison, Storslee Law Firm, Bismarck, ND; Bradley J. Beehler, Morley Law Firm, Grand Forks, ND; and Kraig A. Wilson, Morley Law Firm, Grand Forks, ND as Past President. During the meeting outgoing President, Kraig Wilson, was awarded the DRI Exceptional Performance Award for his support of NDDLA. The annual Seminar focused on Appellate Advocacy and included the following presentations: "10 Tips to Improve Your Case on Appeal" presented by Scott Smith, Bradley Arant Rose & White, LLP, Huntsville, AL; "Mastering the Art of Writing An Appellate Brief" presented by Diane Bratvold, Briggs and Morgan, Minneapolis, MN; "Guidelines for Oral Argument" presented by Scott Knudson, Briggs and Morgan, Minneapolis, MN; "Ethics in the Courtroom" presented by Ronald McLean, Serkland Law Firm, Fargo, ND; and "10 Jury Research Lessons" presented Mike Liffrig, First Court, Center, ND. Our luncheon speaker was Charles Cole, Schuyler Roche & Crisham, Chicago, IL, who discussed DRI and Benefits of Membership. A golf outing kicked off the festivities on September 16.
